Author Interview
Q: When did you know you wanted to be an author?

A: I have spent so much of my life telling people stories or entertaining myself with stories in my head, I guess it was inevitable. It wasn’t until my father passed away that I finally sat down and decided, this is it. It’s time to start writing.

Q: How was writing MYSTIQUE, which is a Young Adult Paranormal title, different from writing your other two books NEVERLAND and KATE TRIUMPH?

A: There are three things in common with all three of my books: 1. Magic 2. Reality and 3. Romance. I truly believe that will never change when it comes to my stories, however, MYSTIQUE went a little more thriller than the other two. There were moments when I was writing MYSTIQUE that I’d find myself looking over my shoulder. And one scene in particular was only edited or worked on while the sun was up. =)

Q: What advice do you have for all those NaNoWriMo participants who finished (or didn’t finish) their 50K word count and have a first draft in front of them.

A: Go find some critique partners or editors that you trust to be honest, (don’t just let your friends and family read it, they never tell the truth) and work on it until you think it’s so bad you hate it, and then send it out. =)

Q: How do you manage writer’s block?

A: I read and I listen to music. With each book I’ve written there have been a handful of songs that completely transport me into my story, and when I’m stuck I listen to those songs until new scenes begin to appear. Sounds weird, but it works.

Q: What are you reading right now?

A: NOTHING!!! And it’s horrible!! I’m working on my next book right now so I haven’t had a whole lot of time to read. =(

Q: What can the readers expect next from you?

A: The next KATE TRIUMPH!! So excited for this one! And then the next MYSTIQUE will soon follow. And… there might be something altogether new in-between. You never know.
