Ava wants a pet, but Mom and Dad say she's too little. So when she finds a kitty, Ava decides to name him Itty Bitty and keep him a secret. There's just one tiny problem: Itty Bitty starts growing and growing and growing . . . until he's neither itty nor bitty! Kids will laugh and cheer along as Ava and Itty Bitty try to keep Mom and Dad from discovering their not-so-little secret!

ITTY BITTY KITTY is not so itty bitty, and neither is the amount of fun you will have reading this book to your kids. The text rhymes just enough to make it fun, not so much that after a few pages you're hiding eye rolls from your kids. Oh, come on – we've all been there after reading the same story 6 times in a row! And don't get me started on the illustrations. Okay, get me started! They are ADORABLE! They pop right off the page!

Since we have our own not-so-itty-bitty-kitty in this house, this story was particularly interesting for my 6 year-old. When Ava's parents tell her she can no longer keep the kitty, we honestly had to take a moment because 6 was so sad by the thought.

Half way through, my struggling reader was even confident enough to try a few pages on her own! This one has taken up a permanent spot next to her bed, and is a new family favorite! We gave it 5 Birds, although considering this book is about a cat – it seems our rating system isn't the best… *wink*
