In modern-day England, witches live alongside humans: White witches, who are good; Black witches, who are evil; and fifteen-year-old Nathan, who is both. Nathan’s father is the world’s most powerful and cruel Black witch, and his mother is dead. He is hunted from all sides. Trapped in a cage, beaten and handcuffed, Nathan must escape before his sixteenth birthday, at which point he will receive three gifts from his father and come into his own as a witch—or else he will die. But how can Nathan find his father when his every action is tracked, when there is no one safe to trust—not even family, not even the girl he loves?
In the tradition of Patrick Ness and Markus Zusak, Half Bad is a gripping tale of alienation and the indomitable will to survive, a story that will grab hold of you and not let go until the very last page.

HALF BAD is taking the world by storm. Optioned for film by Fox 2000 and rights sold in 27 International markets already – you’re going to want to grab a copy before you’re the only one who hasn’t read it.

I’m thrilled to have been among the early readers for this unique and intriguing fantasy tale, told from the point of view of a somewhat unreliable narrator. From the first page you’re on guard, both being pulled into rooting for Nathan 100% but still with that nagging notion in the back of your mind, what it is that he is capable of and how easy it would be to step over the line from Good to Bad.

When we meet Nathan, he’s caged. He’s beaten, and starting a rather impressive case of Stockholm syndrome if you ask me. But he’s desperate to escape. To receive his three gifts on his 17th birthday and become a full witch, like every witch has before him. He knows he this doesn’t happen, he will likely die before he is 18.

A race against the clock for survival. A war against social injustice and the simple need to just want to meet his father, Green throws every possible downfall at Nathan imaginable. Perfectly paced with constant thrills right up to the last page. You’re going to be begging for more the second you finish the book!
