This weeks My Indie Monday Author is:
Tiffany King is the author of The Saving Angels Series. Writer by day and book fanatic the rest of the time, she is now pursuing her life-long dream of weaving tales for others to enjoy. She has a loving husband and two wonderful kids. (Five, if you count her three spoiled cats).
Tiffany is a proud member of The Paranormal Plumes Society, a collective group of authors with the common goal of encouraging others to read. "Books provide the ultimate getaway for me. A good story is a vehicle that takes you to another place, another time, or another world. I love reading the words and letting my imagination do the rest. I appreciate and respect every author who has the courage to put your work out there for the world to see."
Tiffany is back on MMSAI after far too long, with a great interview, sneak peek of her upcoming book PLUS a Giveaway!!!
MMSAI: It's been awhile since we had you on MMSAI! Back then we discussed your first book MEANT TO BE. Tell us, since April 2011 what has changed for you as an Author?
LOL my life has changed so drastically in the last 16 months that I'm not even sure where to begin. At the time of Meant to Be's release, I was trying to juggle working full-time and being a full-time student at the same time. Work on Meant to Be was squeezed in, in the few hours I had between classes, homework assignments, working and spending time with my family. LOL needless to say sleep was sacrificed quite often but it was a sacrifice I was willing to make.
It was a huge relief to finally graduate and have more free time to pursue my writing dreams and in April of 2012, with the release of my fourth novel, Forever Changed, I was able to quit my day job and become a full-time writer (YAY). Looking back now, I am amazed at the changes me life has taken and will forever feel blessed for the opportunities I have been given.
MMSAI: Who's been your favorite character to write?
Eeeeeeep that's a tough question, it's like asking a mom who her favorite child is hehehe. With each new character I write I find something to love about them. Buttttt if I had to make a list, I would have to say that Mason (Unlikely Allies) is probably at the top of my list of favorites, followed by Maddon from (Forever Changed) but my absolute favorite would have to be Haniel from (Forgotten Souls and The Ascended).
I was lucky enough to have my sister-in-law, who is an art major, volunteer to do the first two covers in my Saving Angels Series. Unfortunately she was unable to do the last cover in the series, so we decided to change the covers of all three books on Meant to Be's one year anniversary. We felt by giving them all a facelift, it would give the series unity. I was very pleased with the job my talented cover artist (Stephanie Mooney) did but the originals will always hold a special place in my heart.
MMSAI: What's your writing schedule like? Any quirks to it? Favorite places, foods to snack on?
LOL my writing schedule is a mess, as is the spot where I like to write. With each new book, I set myself up on a nice writing schedule in my beautiful office, buttttttt within a few days I have abandoned both. I have learned that writing cannot be forced or denied so when inspiration strikes, I grab it with both hands. I have also learned that I prefer to write in the family room in the midst of my family chaos (I guess loud noise is my muse hehehe). As for snacks, I'm all about chocolate and diet Coke baby, without either I've been known to weep and threaten mutiny.
MMSAI: What's coming next from you?
My newest novel, Unlikely Allies will be coming out the fall of 2012 (YAY). Below is a sneak peek into UA :o)
UNLIKELY ALLIES SNEAK PEEK: Eighteen year old Kimberly gets the shock of her life when she learns the father she thought was dead is not only very much alive, but never even knew she existed. Angry with her mother for lying to them both, Kimberly flies to Colorado to meet the father she knows nothing about before heading off to college in the fall.
Her father’s world turns out to be nothing like she expected. Rather than the typical nine to five lifestyle, Kimberly is shocked to find that her father runs a summer foster camp that teaches young children skills to build their confidence and self-esteem. The Rocky Mountains are a different world than the sunny shores of California, taking Kimberly completely out of her element, and causing her to second guess her spur of the moment decision.
Never being one to quit anything, Kimberly is determined to show her father that a beach girl can fit into this rugged mountain wilderness. That is if she can deal with Mason, an arrogant nineteen year old boy that has made it his mission to point out every mistake she has made since her arrival. While she would love nothing more than to rub it in his know-it-all face, Kimberly can’t deny the feelings he stirs up inside her, or the chemistry between them, even during their verbal assaults.
When a tragic accident leaves them stranded in the mountains, Kimberly must use her shaky skills to save Mason and survive the elements. Suddenly, fighting is the last thing on their minds as they must rely on each other if they want to live. In their struggle for survival, they realize what they thought they knew about each other isn’t true after all.
