THE PLAYLIST

Playlist for Crossroads Academy Series by J.J. Bonds

I love listening to music when I write, although sometimes I get distracted and find12732267 myself singing along which isn’t exactly productive. You can ask my husband. He’s been an unfortunate witness to many of my off-key concertos.

But, even with the distraction, I can’t resist rocking out a little in front of the computer. Yes, there are dance moves and they’re about as awesome as my singing. Aren’t you glad this isn’t a vlog?

Moment of truth: I have two playlists that I tend to favor. Below are some of the highlights, which lent themselves nicely to Crossroads and Red Dawn and which helped me tap into the characters emotionally.

The first is probably a little odd, but it’s a playlist I downloaded from Rhapsody and I’m not ashamed to say that I love listening to it when I write (although I did make a few modifications). Hopefully this is a judgment free zone, otherwise you’re going to have a blast with this one: ‘Senior Year 1994: I’m a Loser, Baby’. For the record, I did not graduate in 1994, but these are the songs I grew up on and a great reflection of the angsty, alternative throwbacks I enjoy. What can I say? I love disenfranchised underdogs.

‘Possum Kingdom’ by the Toadies

‘Doll Parts’ by Hole

‘Creep’ by Radiohead15748960

Plowed by Sponge

‘Disarm’ by Smashing Pumpkins

Live Forever’ by Oasis

My second list is a bit more updated and upbeat and this is generally where the dancing comes in!

‘Blow’ by Ke$ha

Raise Your Glass’ by Pink

‘The Great Escape’ by Boys Like Girls

‘Rolling in the Deep’ by Adele

‘False Pretense’ by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

Oh, and there’s one other song I queue up regularly: Hell’s Bells by AC/DC. Random, I know, but it’s absolutely my theme song for the Crossroads Academy series!

  1. LOVE that Red Dawn cover! Stunning. I would pick the book up & read it without even glancing at the blurb just cuz it's so awesome.
