After a nightmarish encounter with a werewolf, seventeen-year-old Adria Dawson loses her sister, but gains the love of a mysterious young man and his legendary family.
Strange and tragic things begin to happen in the small town of Hallowell, Maine: residents come down with an unexplainable ‘illness’ and some disappear. In the midst of everything, Isaac Mayfair is adamant about keeping Adria safe, even from her sister whom he has warned her to stay away from.
As unspeakable secrets unfold all around Adria, impossible choices become hers to bear. Ultimately, no matter what path she takes, her life and the lives of those she loves will be in peril. As she learns about the werewolf world she also learns why her place in it will change the destinies of many.
My Review: I finished this book at about 11 o'clock last night! I just "HAD" to finish it. Not only was it amazing... it was such a rush and an adventure! I was hesitant to start this book because honestly I'm not a big fan of werewolves. I'm glad that I did though because this was a treat!
Adria isn't your normal teenage girl... which is good! I'm tired of the damsel in distress who can't take up for herself and isn't independent. Well Adria is all of those things... she doesn't take crap although she is a very nice person. Adria comes from a bad home, and all she's ever had is her sister Alex. Alex is always trying to set Adria up with a guy, but Adria is never interested.
One night a big event happens that has to do with werewolves (that's all I'm saying about that) and it changes their lives forever. The sister Adria thought she had changed after that night. After the incident Adria and Alex both go to live with their Aunt and Uncle. Then you throw Issac in the mix and oh my LORDY I can just picture how hot he is.... all of the "girls" are jealous of Adria because of him. You'll just have to read to find out why. Adria gets caught in the middle of a big Werewolf WAR, yes and she is human so... that's not good AT ALL!
I felt to pulled in, and even though I was hesitant to read it at first I got over that real quick! I loved all of the characters.. well, except for Viktor and his crazy maniac children, but I liked everyone else! Issac is my new book boyfriend.. yes you heard that right, or read... you know what I mean. I would recommend you read this, I loved the Ian Somerhalder mention because I absolutely LOVE Ian! Thanks J.A. Redmerski for a very enjoyable read! I really can’t wait to read Kindred (Book #2 in the Darkwoods Trilogy)
