When a photo shoot ends in tragedy, Kira discovers her best friend, Lydia, has been keeping a secret. Knowing the truth, and accepting it, will change Kira's life forever and thrust her into a world of ancient curses, magical objects, and savage enemies. What happens next will challenge everything Kira knows about her world, herself and the shape-shifting warrior she's falling in love with. No longer the timid mouse her mother accused her of being, but a woman who finds the mental and physical strength to endure and survive.
So one day while cruising around on Amazon looking for new authors to read I found this book. This was really good. Bryant was able to grab and hold my attention with a book that had little fanfare and just a few reviews on Amazon.
Kira’s and Lydia’s friendship is just like any regular relationship any of us would have with our BFF. The banter between them was loving and happy. I enjoyed the way that Bryant made this so easy, in so many books these days the girls don’t have any really good girlfriends. And like it sometimes happens in real life, Lydia has a hot older brother Octavion, who Kira falls for. Unlike real life however, Octavion is a shape-shifter, and not just any ordinary shape-shifter but one of royal decent from another planet. Oh! and so is Lydia. Now stick with me, I promise that this makes the book better and not too incredible to read. The events leading to Kira learning the truth and the story of her devotion to Lydia make for great reading.
I recommend this book to anyone looking for a slight twist on a love story and some pretty good writing. The second book in this series titled Broken was released June 3, 2012 and my review on that will follow shortly.
In addition to reading this book I also recommend to everyone to search out new authors that you may not be familiar with, you are sure to find a few gems. Happy Reading bookworms!
