The Last Echo
The Body Finder #3
Author: Kimberly Derting
Release Date: April 17th 2012
Rating: 4.5 Birds
Violet kept her morbid ability to sense dead bodies a secret from everyone except her family and her childhood-best-friend-turned-boyfriend, Jay Heaton. That is until forensic psychologist Sara Priest discovered Violet’s talent and invited her to use her gift to track down murderers. Now, as she works with an eclectic group of individuals—including mysterious and dangerously attractive Rafe—it’s Violet’s job to help those who have been murdered by bringing their killers to justice.I was thrilled to find The Last Echo in my mail box this week, sent by the wonderful people over at Harper! I was half way through a different book when it arrived and I stayed up half the night finishing that one so I could start The Last Echo the next day.
When Violet discovers the body of a college girl killed by “the girlfriend collector” she is determined to solve the case. But now the serial killer is on the lookout for a new “relationship” and Violet may have caught his eye....
It’s safe to say I adore this series, and well let’s just say the author isn’t too bad either *wink*. I mean, my youngest daughters middle name IS Violet after all…..okay, okay…it is Violet, that is not a lie, but not because of the book…lol – had you there for a second huh?
The Last Echo follows in suit with the other Body Finder books, alternating between Violets life and following that of this installments Killer. I wonder sometimes how Kimberly Derting makes it through writing some of those chapters, being in the mind of a crazy person. They are detailed, dark and give me the heebie jeebies!
While following Violet we get to meet a new cast of people, the team she’s with at The Center. Misfit kids all who all posses some type of psychic ability, but none of them able to do what Violet can. We still have Raffe, who we met in Desires of the Dead, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a little crush on him, and while some of you might gang up on me with pitch forks and a mob….I kinda want Violet with him. I love Jay, Violets best friend as a kid turned boyfriend…I do, but I fall for that bad boy every time!! (Sorry Jay!! No hard feelings!)
The one thing I saw coming was Violet winding up in trouble and winding up the victim. It’s happened in the last 2 books and it happens in this one. I would love to see in the next Body Finder book – OH YES! There’s more coming *jumpy claps* for someone else to need saving. The plots are always interesting and I love them, but a change up would be cool.
Regardless of who “get’s it” in the next novel…I will still read them and love them! Seriously, I really enjoy this series and if you’ve not read any of them and are looking for a new series to start…this is the one for you!
And if you have the chance to meet Kimbery Derting at a book signing near you – TAKE IT! She’s uuber sweet and so hilarious!!!
