17-year-old Vicky Hernandez has a big problem. She's dead. Or not quite. After discovering she's been turned into a vampire, she tries to settle into a quiet suburb of Chicago and return to a normal life.
If only she could stop wanting to bite her boyfriend. Not to mention she is dying to find out who turned her, and why. She doesn't have to wait long before they come to her
Happy Halloween! And what better way to celebrate then with a review of a vampire book! I know what you’re thinking….another vampire book….really? Well take a deep breath and don’t judge it so fast – it’s not like the typical vampire books I’ve read.
Bloody Little Secrets combines so many different things it’s really on it’s own level as far as the mythology with in it. For instance, Vicky has that super mind control thing by simply looking into a persons eyes. At times it felt a little “Jedi Mind Trick” but cool none the less. You get a little Bram Stoker, a little “every day vampire lore” and even some poking of fun at a certain sparkly vampire novel, which I giggled at and loved.
The story was well laid out but at times it felt a little predictable, not in exact detail but in a generalized way…die…come back….kidnapped…..get away. That kind of thing. But it was entertaining and kept my attention and will leave you wondering in which direction it will head in the next book – should there be one….I don’t really know come to think of it but it certainly sets it up to be one if Karly Kirkpatrick so wanted.
Wrapping up I’m giving this novel a 3 Bird rating, it was a good story, with great potential for being a series!
Want to check out Bloody Little Secrets for yourself? A fun little Halloween treat from Karly and MMSAI to YOU!
