Dinner with The Merry Sisters of Fate

A year ago, had you told me I’d be sitting at a restaurant having dinner with Tessa Gratton (Blood Magic, Random House 2011), Maggie Stiefvater (Wolves of Mercy Falls Series, The Scorpio Races - Scholastic) and Brenna Yovanoff (The Replacement 2010, The Space Between 2011 - Razorbill) I would have told you you were full of crap.

You see, Me, My Shelf and I was barely and idea in my head this time last year. I had just started to get back into rabid reading and was attending my very first author event, oddly enough with the 3 Merry Sisters of Fate themselves. Tessa, Maggie and Brenna were my first author meet and greets, my first autographed books and also helped me start to understand the dynamics of writing a novel and the importance of a good critique partner(s).

Color me shocked, when not only did my blog take off in a huge way, but when I auditioned to become a YA Rebel to find out Tessa was pulling for me to win! Thus began a great little friendship with her through e-mail and tweets. Tessa let me in on a secret she would be returning to my area and after many goofy notes on my inability to use the proper wine glass, we decided to talk writing over drinks when she got here.

After a few weeks of organizing things, she said she would be brining her pals Maggie and Brenna along for our meet up and I thought, since Tessa found my book clubs name so entertaining (We’re the Book Fluffers for those who don’t know…I’m not explaining….sort it out yourself.) I would invite my club members too and have a big dinner.

It was a fun, fantastic time of book talk, inappropriate comments, acting like 15 year old boys and an overuse of the phrase “That’s what she said”. I feel like I have come so far in such a short time, to go from simply reviewing books to having sit downs with the authors I love. I am very lucky to have the friends I do!

Thanks ladies for taking time out of your busy schedules for me and my pals. It was a great night!
