{Author Interview} Gretchen McNeil

I’m am tickled PINK to have Gretchen on the blog today!!! Her book Posses drops on the 23rd and if you all read my review yesterday you’ll know that I loved it, and you will too!

IMG_7315_resizeA little about Gretchen:
Gretchen McNeil is an opera singer, writer and clown. Her YA horror/paranormal POSSESS debut with Balzer + Bray for HarperCollins, August 23, 2011. Her second novel, TEN – YA horror/suspense about ten teens trapped on a remote island with a serial killer – is tentatively scheduled for a Fall 2012 release. Gretchen is a former coloratura soprano, the voice of Mary on G4's Code Monkeys and she currently sings with the LA-based circus troupe Cirque Berzerk (http://www.cirqueberzerk.com ). Gretchen is also a founding member of the vlog group YARebels (http://www.youtube.com/yarebels) where she can be seen as "Monday."

(PS this little blurb is on the back of her ARC and can I just say how freaking nutty I went seeing something that I am apart of YA Rebels! being on the back of a book!)
Now why is Gretchen here? Well for some full on pimping, that’s why! And to do that we are going to do a really fun and totally unconventional little interview of sorts – because she’s such a good sport she played along. Hope you all have fun!
1) Name is 4 things on your computer desk RIGHT NOW...
Coffee mug
Half eaten salad
Dove dark chocolate
Red pen

2) Funniest mistake you found while editing
I kept switching Hector’s last name back and forth between Gutierrez and Rodriguez. Apparently, I can’t remember my own characters’ names!

3) Find 3 things in your house starting with the letter P
Pride and Prejudice – three copies of the novel including an annotated version, and three different movie versions
(note: I set her up perfectly to pimp Possess, and she failed! Gah! Gretchen!! WTH?)

4) Tell a joke
My friends tell me I'm too condescending.
That means I talk down to people.Age 11
(WHAT? LOL.)
5) If you could be any box of cereal what would it be and why?
Lucky Charms because they’re magically delicious.

6) How much do you love chocolate?
I can’t even express it to you in words.

7) Share an embarrassing photo of yourself with us
God help me. I’m eleven years old. In a unitard.

8) Favorite picture book and why?
THERE’S A MONSTER AT THE END OF THIS BOOK. Because I giggled every single time I read it…including just last week.

So? Don’t you just love her? I know, everyone does! And because she knows you’re love for her AND because her book comes out ON MY ANNIVERSARY – I’m giving away my coveted ARC (as seen in the YA Rebels audition video I did) and Gretchen is giving you some swag! AWESOME book marks with St. Benedict Medals on them and Temporary Tattoos!!!
