{Author Interview} Megan Duncan PLUS a Giveaway!

By: Me My Shelf And I | 29 March 2011 at 3:29 AM | |
I was honored to be able to read an advanced copy of Released by Megan Duncan this week and now I have the wonderful pleasure of being able to interview her as well! Not to mention as offer a ePub version of her book to one of my lucky readers!

MMSAI: Where did the idea for Released come from?
MD: The idea for Released came from my love of dystopian/apocalyptic books and movies. I spent some time researching what was currently available in that genre and found that many of the books were about zombies. I love zombie books, but I also wanted to put my own twist on things.

MMSAI: Why a demon apocalypse?
MD: I imagine that my answer to question #1 somewhat answers this one too. I chose to use demons because I feel like it offers a lot
more freedom to create the story. Plus I think demons are a lot scarier than zombies any day of the week. :-)

MMSAI: Will there be any sequels to Released?
MD: So far I am planning on one sequel to Released. As of right now I plan to title it Chaos, but that can change. I have only just started outlining it, but I am getting pretty excited about where I hope to take the story.

MMSAI: If so, when do you hope to publish it?
MD: I have a lot of other books in the works at the moment, but as far as Released, I hope to have one sequel out by the end of the year.
MMSAI: Are you like any of your characters?
MD: I think the character I am most like is Abby. She is a really tough girl, but struggles to get in touch with her emotional side without coming off as weak. She is very protective of those she cares about, and when push comes to shove she will do what she can to protect them, no matter how scared she is.

MMSAI: Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?
MD: I think the best advice I can give is to never give up. If writing is your dream and passion don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do it. My motto is: "Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts"

Thank you so much Megan for taking time to answer some questions for us! I has really been an honor! Me, My Shelf, And I looks forward to many more reviews of your future books!
