The book took several dozen pages to drag me in, filling me with information I couldn't possibly process as quickly as it was produced. However, once it did grab me, it totally took me over.
Several times I found myself thinking, "This is a 5 Bird Book" - and while it lingers on the 4.5 side of things and I greatly enjoyed it I just can not bestow upon it my greatest honer of said birds. A few reasons why:
-One of the characters Bitterblue, wasn't quite defined as well as I would have liked her to be. Some very important information pertaining to her seems to never be revealed and this irks me through the whole book as it's hinted towards it...but nothing more..
-The ending...yes it ended better then the million options my ADD brain was whipping out at me about midway through the book, but it was just one of the "UH!????" endings. I was happy, but felt I deserved more...you know?
-Sequels...are their more? I don't know! Kristen Cashore has other books with similar covers that do not have similar story lines, but COULD be about the same people but I'm not sure (thanks goodreads for being so helpful on that!)
In the end - 4 birds (really 4.5 but again I'm not hacking a poor bird in half...) Read it, you'll like it. Have I ever lied to you before?
