Currently reading Tempted (#6), by PC Cast and her daughter Kristen.
The House of Night series....sigh. I read the first 5 in about 6 days, for a few reasons. 1. In the first few books they repeat things a lot. Word for word sacred chants, instead of just saying "and they had the ritual*" they described it time and time again though it was the same each time. 2. Part of me was hoping the plot would come back through all the repetitiveness and the crappy "teen talk" language that no teenager I have ever met speaks. and 3. They are just easy reads.
Notice how nothing in there is "I couldn't put them down, they were page turning, edge of my seat suspenseful". Well that's because they are not. They are rather predictable in fact. At first you don't know what to think, you start with a steamy sex scene, then fly into immature language that would make even a nine year old embarrassed to be around the person using it.
IMO, PC should have stuck to writing with out her daughter Kristen. You can almost pick out the different writing styles and decide which wrote which bits. To me, this is annoying. HOWEVER, I'm much to stubborn to quit this far into the series so I have borrowed book 6 on my nook and am currently reading (and skipping) through it. Plus, even though I am sure I will not get the ending I hope for by any means, I am still curious to see how they wrap it all up.
Oh, before I go here's a helpful tip, ignore everything, and I mean EVERYTHING in parenthesis in the first few books. It's useless. Example: "....I went the dining hall (cafeteria)...." oh no, I'm not kidding. After the first few books the Cast Duo seems to have dropped the side notes and realized people generally understood the blatantly obvious.
